The Smallpeice Trust is an independent educational charity promoting engineering as a viable career option among 12 to 18 year olds.


Objective

Cognition was engaged to promote the work of The Smallpeice Trust nationally, challenging the stigma that engineering is a dirty and boring job, while also promoting specific course partnerships and significantly increasing course bookings.

Results

  • Significant coverage across the national, trade, regional, business and education media challenging the negative stigma surrounding engineering as a career

  • PR exposure contributed to a significant increase in course bookings with courses being full or often oversubscribed

  • Quarterly 8-page newsletter for teachers raising awareness of the Trust and its courses

  • PR support for regional and local initiatives and partner support through press release announcements, case studies and profiles

  • Significant awareness of engineering as a role for women through case studies and partnership work with the London Engineering Project
